Ken Read The Ritchie Trombone Choir began in 1989 as a teaching ensemble for Ken Read’s trombone students. Almost immediately, the group attracted the attention of other trombonists. Adult amateurs, professional and semi-professional trombonists, university students and talented junior high and high school students play with the group. The trombone choir receives coaching and conducting from a variety of professional musicians and performs publicly several times a year. In 2004 the ensemble incorporated as a non-profit society. The society’s mandate is to encourage the musical development of its members, to support developing musicians and to encourage the growth of community within the arts.
